Strawberry temptations

– Strawberry is healthy because it contains a lot of water, fiber and few calories. Like all other berries, there are a lot of antioxidants in strawberries, including vitamin C, says nutrition physiologist Cathrine Borchsenius.

Strawberries every day

The nutritionist actually believes we can treat strawberries every single day this summer.

– In Norway, there is a short strawberry season, so we must utilize it as well as we can.

Without milk and sugar

But if you are pouring a lot of sugar and milk or cream, do not stuff yourself too much. It is allowed to treat such a dessert in new and new, but if you want to keep the weight and eat a lot of strawberries, you should teach yourself to enjoy the good, fresh taste without milk and sugar.

While most of the berries we breed come from Europe, the strawberry plant, as we know today, is a cross between two species from the American continent.

The first strawberry plant, Fragaria chiloensis, with large berries, but small crops, came to France from Chile with a spy in 1714.

When this plant was crossed with plants of a species from North America, Fragaria virginiana, which had small, dark red and pear-shaped berries, we got the plant we currently know as garden strawberries, or Fragaria ananassa.

Two deciliters or 100 grams of strawberries contain only 34 calories (Kcal). The same portion contains 69 milligram C vitamins.

Therefore, strawberry bites both oranges (51 milligrams per 100 grams) and kiwi (59 milligrams per 100 grams) into the boots on the content of C vitamins.

If we look at the total content of antioxidants, strawberries are even better sources than regular strawberries.

Replace the ice with strawberries

And while many choose ice in the summer heat: If you replace two bullets with strawberry vanilla ice cream, you can squeeze as much as 600 grams of strawberries before you get as many calories as the ice contains.

It is a little more than a traditional Norwegian strawberry basket.
