Enriched cocoa improves the function of blood vessels in diabetics, shows German study.
Three cups of flavanol-enriched cocoa daily for one month led to “severely weakened” blood vessels recovering normal function.

The type of cocoa used in the experiment is not commercially available and is cocoa which was enriched with very high concentrations of flavanols.
Other studies now look at whether flavonol-enriched chocolate is beneficial for diabetics.
Flavanols, or flavonoids, are antioxidants, chemical substances that are also found in some fruits and vegetables, green tea and red wine.
These drugs have been linked to health promoting properties in a wide range of other studies.
